I have tremendous respect for Cliff's posts--except the one that appeared to attack me for downplaying smi2les' posts as innocuous. I don't really see Cliff as self-absorbed, but the post was nonetheless a bit overbearing. I do believe that he counted my months of posting in the first few lines and said he would let me slide as I was too new to "get it." You miss those sentences?

I appreciate the old-timers who post here with love and concern; but you have to allow new posters in as equals or the whole thing is meaningless. There is no function to seniority, and it is insulting to be gauged not by one's contributions, but by one's length of "membership."

I judge Cliff by his excellent commentary--I have never clicked his name to see how far back he goes. I don't give a toot about that. Or you--it's your posts that matter; and I like them. I look forward to both of your posts and read each one as I see them come up in the radar.

Would it be anymore fair to judge posters by when they first saw the band? Or how often? Would the fact that I shook Jerry's hand put me at the top of the list. Nope. And it shouldn't.

agreed, agreed, agreed, and most certainly, anyone who posts here should be taken on the merit of their posts or lack thereof, and not on how long they have been posting, of course, and never will you get argument from me on that front; i will however, given what i _do_ know of Cliff, presume that his earlier post in reply to your own, was written in a heated moment where his mental faculties perhaps got wrapped around his love of the music and this forum; and anyway, i can't imagine him or anyone having any argument with you or your contributions, seriously, they are highly appreciated, at least from my and many others perspective; but sometimes, myself included, it's hard to step back and take a broader and possibly more objective view when something we enjoy is perceived, whether rightly or wrongly, as being diminished in quality. I will not, however, get into that whole pandora's box, at least not now, got too much other on my plate. I remember during Basic Training in the Army, one of the first things that one learns right quick is that there are no excuses, that a soldier's actions are just that, and accept the consequences or rewards, period. Why do i say this? I don't know, guess reading certain posts i am reminded of what it means to be upfront about what you do and do not do in life and how you confront others, and what comes out of your mouth ... are they words someone can respect, or are they words that are wrought from a defensive, cowardly stance. Actually, it's why i have a great respect for your own postings, because they speak a nature resolved and true. But i don't know, if you shook Jer's hand, well, all hail ghostofpig!
